About the Author
Lenore Hirsch enjoyed a long career working with children as a teacher and elementary school principal. She has been a student of Foxy’s quirky attitudes for ten years, and still chuckles daily at his antics. They live in Napa, California.

a fun, touching read

Before reading this story I was curious on how the author would pull this off -- I mean it's difficult enough to write an entertaining story from the perspective of a human, but in this case it's from the perspective of a dog. But within only a few pages I was in the mind of Foxy and I found myself wanting to better understand a dog's perspective. I wanted to know how dogs might feel about certain things, hoping the author would touch on the topic at some point in the story. I wasn't often disappointed. There were also some similarities between this book and George Saunders new release, "Fox 8," which I would also recommend.
Granted, I am a true dog lover, and probably biased, but I would suggest this book to anybody that wants an entertaining new perspective on humankind's best friend.

Having two adorable, smart Boston Terriers, I may be just a bit prejudiced but my "girls" will be very happy now that mama has entered into the mind of a fellow four legged canine! I have fallen in love with Foxy and the author's ability to communicate Foxy's take on the world around him was brilliant! I know I will understand and perhaps be a better mama to my girls having followed Foxy's adventures. Purchasing some for Christmas Gifts......I have lots of dog loving friends. Waiting for the sequel!

Worth your time! A sweet and poignant book, even if you're not a dog lover YET!

When I've read a book and really enjoyed it, I always want to make sure a review will express that in a way that will encourage others to read it as well. So these thoughts have to begin with just that: if you pick up this book, you will be in for a treat. The characters, human and canine, are drawn gently and move through the story in a way that makes you glad you went along. There are both lighter and heavier elements to the story, and Lenore has intertwined them effectively. I recommend this book without reservation.
